Collaboration results in new bag closure for bread bags.
A question of Bakkersland, the biggest industrial bakery in the Netherlands, inspired Schutte Bagclosures to a new version of clipband, which helps the baked product producer to create significantly improved product presentation. Bakkersland supplies bread, bakery & confectionery, snacks and cakes to supermarkets in and outside the country. Obviously the company wants to present its bread in optimum condition on the supermarket shelves. Bakkersland packs its sliced fresh bread in shiny plastic bags. During packing, transporting and placing on the supermarket shelves, the packaged bread is handled several times. Each time the clipband, that closes the bread bag, slides over the smooth plastic bag a little bit. The result is that the bread sits loosely in the bag and the image of beautiful, fresh bread decreases.
With the Clipband-Xtragrip the manufacturer of bag closures offers a simple and effective solution. The difference with the Clipband-original is that Schutte Bagclosures made the edges of the new bag closures sharper. With a patent application this invention is protected. Due to the higher slide resistance of the clipband the bread remains tightly wrapped, which leads to a better product presentation at the supermarket. The clipband performs already much better with a thinner wire, which makes it also easier to use. The major advantage for the bakery industry is that Clipband-Xtragrip can be used on conventional packaging machines. Same as the Clipband-Original™, the newly developed clipband is re-closable, suitable for imprinting and available in all standard colours.
The bread producer is enthusiastic. Tests show that the slide resistance of the Clipband-Xtragrip is twice as large in comparison with the Clipband-Original™. With Clipband-Xtragrip Bakkersland has more grip on customer satisfaction and both the baked product producer and the supermarket benefit from that!
Clipband-Xtragrip is available for testing as of April 2011. The official launch will take place at the Interpack 2011 in May 2011.

Last September an auditor from Tüv nord has tested Schutte bagclosures on our ISO 9001ystem. Every three years there is an extensive audit that leads to a new ISO-certificate. Now we’ve graduated for another three years. Schutte intends to keep the quality-system high on the agenda and with the yearly checkup by the Tüv the quality will be guaranteed. During the two days audit all departments have been carefully examined and we all passed the test. Schutte is ISO-certified since 1995, so we didn’t expect any problem. We notice that more and more customers are interested in an ISO-certificated supplier and ask for the certificate with expire date. If you need one, we can sent you one in Dutch, French, German or English.
